The Bursa Heard Around the World

Well, we all know by now that Peyton Manning had surgery to remove a bursa sac from his knee. The Colts don't sound too worried, saying that Manning will be recover in 6 weeks, plenty of time for the opener.

Are they blowing smoke up our collective kiesters?

The bursa is a pad-like sack of fluid that helps cushion your bone. Apparently, you have plenty of them in your knee, so Peyton shouldn't be worried about bone-on-bone scraping anytime soon. The worst long-term effect is eventual arthritis, and let's face it, by the time arthritis sets in on Peyton's knee, none of us (and no one in the Player's Association) will care anymore. Average recovery is 6-8 weeks, so giving 6 weeks for an athlete seems quite reasonable.

So I don't think that this is really going to be an issue, and I still think that Peyton wants to stick it to Tom Brady for breaking his TD record. Hopefully, everyone else will be scared off by this development, and we can pick up Peyton at a bargain price in our drafts.
