I usually don't plan out my vacations to minute detail - it makes them seem like less of a vacation. But when I took my family to Disney World, I had a firm itinerary. You see, I found out that not having a plan at Wally World would cause you to stand in endless lines during the heat and humidity of central Florida. So, I planned when we were waking up, where we were eating breakfast, and which rides we would hit in which order. The plan worked - four days in Disney World, and we did not spend more than 15 minutes in any line.
And, boy, was I proud of myself. Every time we sped onto a ride without waiting, I would remind my wife of what a wonderful job I had done creating the plan. The plan was great. No, the plan was PERFECT. I was AWESOME. Father of the year material.
Then, I got my comeuppance. I did not realize that it is about a 4 hour drive from Disney World to the Orlando Airport. Apparently, Orlando uses the same "reduce noise pollution by putting the airport in a different state" philosophy used in Denver. So we missed our flight home, had to stay in a hotel (after missing dinner), and had to get up at 4:30 the next morning to get on a plane home. So much for the perfect schedule. Believe me, I felt like a royal ass for telling my wife what a wonderful planner I was for 4 days straight before this fiasco.
Anyway, I should have known I was tempting fate when I wrote the article yesterday blowing my own horn about Jason Campbell's projections. Well, tonight, I am getting my just desserts. Jay Cutler, who we have had a serious man-crush on since the pre-season, was ranked as my #2 QB this week. Cutler hurt a finger on his throwing hand on the Broncos' first series, and has not been right since. As of this posting, he has 80 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions late in the third quarter. Well, at least this time, I don't have to find a late-night shuttle to a hotel.
It just goes to show that there are a few things that no projection system is going to predict. To date, teams have had some success passing on the Patriots, and Cutler had been a yardage machine. It looked like he was set to put up some good numbers. If there is any site out there that projected an injury to Cutler tonight, toss out all your other fantasy football bookmarks immediately and ask them for stock advice.
In my defense, I would like to point out that my #1 QB for the week, Matt Schaub, did have a very nice game.
